Pride & Provenance

Jazz Brunch Review

90 minutes, all you can eat and drink. Seems like an easy feat for some, others it’s a challenge. For us, 2 plates and we were stuffed. In fairness, the plates were pretty full. The trip to Pride & Provenance was a belated Mothers’ Day treat.

We arrived at Pride & Provenance at 12:45pm, the restaurant slowly filling up. We were seated and shown a small blackboard which had a list of beverages on which were available. These ranged from Wines and Lager to Soft Drinks and Tea & Coffee. Drinks flowed and were promptly refilled as soon as your glass was empty.

Once everyone had arrived, we were told that the buffet was now open. Everyone was hesitant to get up as no-one wanted to be first up for the buffet, but we did. We were not messing about waiting for someone else to be brave enough to be first up.

We were met with an array of bruschetta’s with varying toppings; pesto, tapenade, tomato and chilli jam. Breads, meat and cheese were spread over the next table. Back at our table, we had varying accompaniments such as olives, balsamic, chutney and butter, waiting to be paired with charcuterie and cheese.

Whilst we ate, the sounds of the Unity Trio Jazz Band played. The music was not too loud and you could still hear your companions as the conversation flowed.

One of my favourite bruschetta’s of the day was the pesto bruschetta. The bread was lovely and toasted and the pesto had a beautiful umami taste. I also tried the Tomato and chili jam bruschetta and expected the chilli jam to be spicy but I found the spice level to be subtle and not overpowered.

The time soon flew and before we knew it 2:30pm came around. Drinks served as part of the Bottomless Brunch were due to end at this time. Waiting staff came round again and asked if we wanted a drink which we ordered coffee.

Even though the event only lasted for 90 minutes, we never felt like we had to leave as soon as the 90 minutes ended as the restaurant was closed for the event in question. We were, however, the first to leave. I’m sure if we didn’t need to rush home, we would’ve been there for another hour or so.

The food was beautiful and the service, excellent. My only slight little thing, and this is just a personal preference not a negative, I would’ve liked to see some fruit to accompany the cheese, even if it was just grapes or dried apricots/figs. As I said, this is just a personal preference.

A fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon, we’ve even booked for the Jazz Brunch in June too, as the May date is unfortunately sold out. We will be sure to a) not drive and b) make sure we don’t have to rush off.
